Not Just Another Storage Shed

Advertisements:

Building something for your home can be very fulfilling. This is even more so if it’s both functional and stylish. Let’s take the case of storage sheds. Storage sheds are really popular nowadays because they offer additional space at less cost than building a new storage room. Moreover, they can be really fun projects because there are so many interesting designs available in the market or you can customize yours to make it really unique. But if you want to build a shed that can really satisfy both your storage needs and aesthetic cravings, you would need to sort out a few things. Shed plans and storage shed kits can still run for a few hundred dollars or even a couple of thousand so don’t waste your good money and end up getting disastrous results. First off, consider the dimensions of your shed, particularly how small or big you would want it to be. Then, buy shed plans and kits that match or closely match those specifications. Second, consider the type of materials you would be using. There are many available materials out there but the most common would seem to be wood, plastic, vinyl, and metal. Nevertheless, you can always combine one or two of these to create more unique looks for your storage sheds. Metal storage sheds in particular can be combined with wood, coated vinyl, or maybe high-grade plastic for extended durability and more attractive designs. Third, you will want to look into the construction cost of the shed. Keep in mind that the more sophisticated the design may be, the more it may cost in terms of time and labor to build. See if you need to have someone help you build the shed or if there’s additional equipment necessary to construct it. If you can borrow the equipment from someone else, it’ll be the cheaper alternative.

Garden Shed Plans for You

Metal garden shed

A traditional metal garden shed

A garden shed is not so hard to build. You can permanently build a garden shed for your garden. You do not have to consult an architect or a drafter to draw your own garden shed plans. You need concentration, garden shed kits and time to draft your simple garden shed plans.

The first thing you should take into consideration is the shape. The two shapes that are commonly used are Apex and Pent. In the Apex shape the roof comes to a point in the middle. In the Pent shape, the roof slopes from one high end to another low end and has the windows and doors on the high side. The next thing to consider is to decide on the materials. The materials that one can use are of three types: metal, wood and plastic. Of these three materials, wood is the best, because it will give it a more natural look than when you build using metal or plastic. Try to find wood that has been treated with preservative which has been forced into the wood, because it is more effective than paint as paint wears off with time. Now choose your location and buy all the materials you need as detailed in your shed plan. You could even consider getting these materials pre cut, this will cost a little more but save loads of time. Level the ground and prepare to lay the foundations for your new shed. After that you have to build the walls and then the roof. The last two steps are applying the shingles for the roof then treating the wood. In this way you may build a garden shed of your own.

Building your own shed is very simple. Even if your carpentry skills are limited you may build it by following a set of instructions and good garden shed kits.
